Mold sampling is only a tool to be used purposely,
selectively and for specific scientific inquiry when
needed. If you have serious health related question, high
value property
consideration, potential legal issue with a questionable 3rd
party inspection it requires nothing less than a
experienced specialist
with extensive laboratory training with fungal molds in medical
mycology (as with NJMI) be considered and consulted
for such
an investigation and study. See (What is mycology?)
AVOID UNQUALIFIED
INSPECTIONS
We often get calls from people that have had
their homes or other property tested for mold presence.
In nearly
every case these people get raw lab results that are out of
context, ambiguous, nebulous, indefinite, pointless, and
have little to no meaning whatsoever. Such
results should not be accepted as a "mold report" (nor
are they lawfully valid). This
causes confusion, delay and added expense because the lab
work raises more
questions than answered and at times terrorizing the recipient
and those interested in the report and often these people are
left without direction. We consider this type of work as unacceptable
by anyone claiming to have performed a "mold inspection".
Whenever any mold is sampled and sent for analysis a
complete study must made before anything meaningful can be
derived from
the sample taken before returning it to the client.
Not surprisingly when we review these reports
the majority are also flawed in the sampling methodology
employed
requiring resampling and retesting. This is due to the
fact the people doing testing are not trained scientists that
understand or know how to work with biological entities within
human environments.
DEMAND INTERPETATION
OF LAB RESULTS
It is a disservice for anyone to take samples
and then send raw data to their clients without telling them
what the results mean and what if anything needs to be
done. Imagine a physician
taking a blood sample and then the laboratory sends you the
results to figure out what they mean? This
is happening repeatedly with mold samplers. A definitive report
is required from anyone that does the sampling - Sampling is
part of and inseparable from any report and must be performed
by the same researcher whenever
it is possible. Such results must go back to the person collecting
the sample and be studied and a proper report completed with
findings, results and recommendation. Note: The
laboratory is not qualified to report the meaning of or interpret
the samples collected.
WRITTEN, CERTIFIED
AND SIGNED INSPECTION REPORTS
We scientifically sample, test, analyze and provide
a comprehensive study and report answering all
of your questions
regarding the mold or the mold like presence that may
be of concern based upon years of experience and our own accumulated
research data. Even published threshold values for mold presence and
exposure are nearly meaningless without the application of
a
proper scientific study and report. We
maintain complete chain of custody in our sampling, studies
and reports - no handing off to
third parties(with exceptions-ask). Finally get your report
in writing, certified (with
qualifying title) and signed - without
these you have no bona fide report that will be rejected by
attornies and the courts and should not be paid for by anyone.
SECOND OPINIONS
We often perform second opinions
at the request of attorneys and their clients when matters warrant.
If your report or that of a related party in a matter is suspect
for any reason, have a fully qualified inspection performed.
You or your attorney may contact us for a free initial consultation.

opinions and the non-report
reports we review.
MOLD SPORES ARE EVERYWHERE
Almost all indiscriminate sampling is nearly
worthless since mold spores are present everywhere. Recently
a black streak was sampled (by a "mold inspector")
for mold and positive results for mold were returned by
a lab, a proposal to perform $9,000.00 of remediation work by
that company, later our follow-up investigation and study revealed
the black streak was tar and the mold spore samples that
were taken were simple, common and incidental spores that could
have been collected from the kitchen table top or any other
area of the home and of no concern and there
was no mold problem at all!
USE OF MEDICAL SCIENTISTS
Commonly home inspectors are now referring suspect
mold to fully qualified scientists for a complete and
competent analysis performed by scientists so trained in the
required multi-disciplinary fields of biology, medical
mycology, clinical pathology, aerobiology, phytopathology, indoor air quality, mold
inspection and remediation at minimum. For anyone to conduct
such study and analysis our scientists exceed all such qualifications.
Meet our mycologists.
Our specialties in reporting include:
Total Indoor Air Quality
Analysis - MVOC, Organic, Noxious, and Toxic Gas Presence.
Clinical/Sub Clinical Studies and Reports - Health
Risk Assessment and Management
Insurance Property Damage - Fine Furniture, appliances,
clothing and other mold/water damage. Legal Second opinions
- Efficacy of previous inspection, remediation and repairs.
Negligence.
New Property Construction - New
home with mold present using moldy wood (common).
